Beginner Piano Class?

Posted by admin

I'm taking a beginner piano class at the University I attend. I understand mastery of music requires years and years…. but how long do you think it'll take for me to have a solid grasp (which is difficult to define) over playing the piano?

I'm really wanting to learn for two reasons….
1. Play for my wife someday.
2. Being a Christian, in my personal worship.

Depends on how obsessed you get with it. I personally couldn't stand music lessons until I was inspired. Then at the age of 17 picked up a guitar and now I'm considered "something" in little circles. Presently I'm trying to find a voice for myself, which is hard cuz I'm 37 and wondering, like you, if I'm too old.

I say no. There is no age limit. If you love it you can do it. There are lots of "geezer" song writers and performers.

(With my knowledge of theory I was able to pick up the keys in less than a year [I'm no hot dog at them though... yet])
