Can anyone suggest a keyboard piano for a beginner?

I'm willing to pay about a little over $200 for the keyboard and books or cd's to help me learn. If you can't find one that would be good for a beginner can you at least give me some specs to look for. Also, is it that important to have weighted keys?
Are the casios reasonably priced?

While casios aren't the best keyboards in the world they are okay and cost less than the other quality brands. You want to get as many keys as you can for piano playing (a piano is 88). Many keyboards are 61 keys (that really is to short). There are also 76 key keyboards and those will have an adequate amount of keys. Anything with 88 keys is likely to cost over $400.

You are not likely to find a weighted keyboard for $200. Touch Sensativity (meaning it's louder if you strike the key harder) is more important. The touch of keyboard is different from a piano and weighted keys is a way to make the touch more like a piano. Hammer action keys are the most like a piano (but also cost a lot!). You will be able to get started okay without weighted keys but may want to consider getting one with weighted or even hammer action in the future.
