If I have never taught piano before, can you recommend a piano method course for a beginner piano student?

I have played piano for 30 years, but I have never given lessons. Someone wants me to start lessons with their son. What piano method would you recommend for both a beginning teacher and student? He is in junior high.
There is a series of books called "Music for Young Children" which gets progressivley harder. My teacher used these books when she taught me, they're very straight forward, i found them great. Don't worry about the title having the words "young children" in it, even though he is in junior high, it's a great series for beginners. good luck

Hey I think it's a great idea. Try methods that you used to learn how to play piano. Start with some scales, then try songs such as Mary Had A Little Lamb etc and so on and so forth. Use the methods you learned would be my advice…

When I learnt, my teacher used Waterman & Harewood books and Hanon exercises.

I am sure you must be having some books, since you have played for 30 years. Go through it and mark all the easier pieces that you could use for teaching.
You could try splitting your 1 hour class as –
Scales and technical execrcises – 15 min
Sight reading – 15 min
Repertoire building – 30 min
